Containers Soul,
Melee Master,
& Arcane Weapon
Looks like we are going over a couple of fighters for this week. Usually, I try to randomize my game selections but it looks like there were some slow pick'ems this time around. So enjoy.
Containers Soul
For our first game, it's Containers Soul. A 2D side scrolling Beat Em Up game with..... sigh.... Zombies...... WHY THE HELL IS IT ALWAYS GOD DAMN ZOMBIES!? NO SERIOUSLY!!!!! IT IS ALWAYS GOD DAMN ZOMBIES.... IT'S...... IT'S JUST.............
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also, I would like to point out that when I played this game it was in Japanese. But seriously this game does have redeeming values. But it also has some flaws.... I'm gonna point out what they are because... well... this is a review.... it's what I'm suppose to do. GET ON WITH IT!!!!

Controls
This is probably the strongest part of the game. Yes, we are already at the best part of the game. I would say that you move with the WASD keys. But the 'W' isn't used. I really didn't get this control scheme, You can move left and right with 'A' and 'D' and the 'S' key is used to crouch, so why isn't 'W' jump, I mean that key is even used as an up attack, but it's not good enough to be jump. But guess what is jump... No go ahead and guess what it is... It's 'K'..... SINCE WHEN IS K THE FREAKING JUMP!? Odd control setup aside the controls work out pretty well.
Graphics
The graphics are actually a noble attempt. The 3D design of the characters seem appropriate for this game, but there are those little moments that definitely show that the game is a flash game, like the still stance while jumping, or some missing frame rates on the animation. Also I had a problem with the music. As in, there is no music... None whatsoever. All you get are the slashes from your sword and complete silence. I really hate it when a game does that, because it can make an exciting game about slashing zombies even more boring than it already is.
Difficulty
And here we have the weakest part of the game. There's little to no challenge in this game. Don't get me wrong, there are moments that you will take damage from the zombies, and whenever you're hit, there isn't a recovery time. The enemy can take half of your health in just one hit. However, even with the no recovery time, this game is tediously easy. You will die on occasion but you will roam throughout the game for hours before that happens. And keep in mind, this game is in Japanese, I was under the impression that this was just a hack and slash game, but apparently it's also a platformer. I can't read Japanese, so I'm not sure if I was playing the game the right way or if there are certain objectives or what. But even with the foreign language there should be at least more excitement than what I'm seeing here.
Overall, I can best accurately describe this game as a tedious game that was designed well. It has the smooth controls for the most part, but the execution of this game just fell flat on its face. It shows promise, but fails to deliver.

Melee Master
(Couldn't find a decent picture of this game, so I went ahead and made my interpretation of this game)
Hey guys! Do you like that Iori guy from King Of Fighters? How about some Naruto characters? How about Moblins? Even if you said yes to any of that, I cannot recommend Melee Masters nor can I say that this game does any justice for any of those characters. This is probably gonna be a short review. Mainly because there's not a who lot to talk about in this game.
Controls
The controls are pretty decent. They're functional at least. Really That's all That I have to say about this category.
Graphics
There is absolutely nothing original about the graphics of this game. Sure they look nice but again, there's nothing original about it. The guy you play as is from King Of Fighters, you go around the area fighting the moblins from the Legend of Zelda series, and the background and bosses are from Naruto. Nothing original. Now I don't have a problem with fan games, there are good ones out there, but it's just that when the creators resort to using other peoples creations to make a game popular that where I draw the line.
Difficulty
This is where the game suffers the most at. It's not all that difficult. You can defeat any enemy just by mashing 1 button. The game will just continue to go on and on and on. It gets old really fast.
Overall, I cannot recommend Melee Masters to be in good taste. It seem that it was a game that was just slapped together at the last minute.

Arcane Weapon
For the third and final game it's Arcane Weapon. It's rather unique and ingenious fighting game, if you wanna call it that. This game is more like a timed game of rock paper scissors. But can something that simple really something that people can call a good game? Let's find out.
Controls
Like I said before, the game controls more like a timed rock paper scissors game. You click on a attack, each attack takes a certain amount of time to execute and deals a certain amount of damage. And if you're quick enough you can attack more than once, maybe even three times. However, to balance this out the bosses were made to be very powerful, but I'll talk about that later.
Graphics
I gotta say, I really like the style here. Your character is a silhouette, your powerful attacks are beautiful, and the bosses. Oh God the bosses, I cannot see anything else that would fit better than the epic bosses that are in this game. This game has very welcoming graphics .
Difficulty
As I said before, to make up for attacking more than once, the bosses were programmed to be ever so powerful. So powerful in fact, you dying is an inevitability. You will die. Fortunately, you have all these upgrades that are at your disposal. And you can buy these upgrades with coins and artifacts that you get by attacking the bosses. This game is almost a perfect game if it wasn't for one thing. It's short... And I mean really short. Like you can probably beat it in about 30 - 40 minutes... Yeah that short.
Overall, the game is rather interesting. It has an interesting style, it has freaking epic battles, and shortness aside, it's a game I would recommend to those who love strategic fighting games. It already got me addicted. Trust me.
