Dumaker
Today we have an artist from Spain who just loves the dark and mysterious side of things. His work is dark and looks like something that came out of Tim Burton's fantasy, all a plus in my book. He is a great illustrator, an awesome graphic designer, and a proud member of the artistic group 'Hystarical Minds'. And he is more than familiar with the dark humor macabre genre as well as the beautiful scenery from a good fantasy. As a fan of macabre and fantasy myself, I just had to showcase him. I managed to ask him a series of questions, and here is what he had to say:
SmirkyTrick: When did you start working on your specific environment?
Since I was a child I have been drawing nonstop in school tables in notebooks and folders at school and later in my studies of graphic design and illustration. I've been drawing digitally since 2000 consistently, when I had my first Wacom Graphire :)
SmirkyTrick: What sparked your interest in this?
Although my day job is largely as a graphic designer and art director web, illustration is for me an escape and a moment of complete enjoyment. Since much of my work is created drawing without the request of a client or agency, I like to paint what I feel like. Is almost therapeutic.
SmirkyTrick: Is there someone or something that inspired your personal style?
Overall I have never been aware of my role graphs. Rather than specific people, am a lover of style of many artists, both classic and modern. As for the classics, romantic painters are my favorites, and today, featured the work of conceptual artists is what inspires me. Also some of the companions of my art collective Hysterical Minds (hystericalminds.com) are a reference.
SmirkyTrick: What part would you say you are most proud of?
It is difficult to answer. As I finish an illustration, in most cases, it ceases to seem good soon. I am a very changeable in this regard, therefore, my favorite illustration is usually always the latest. Maybe today I particularly like this, but I think it is my best work:

SmirkyTrick: Who is your favorite artist and why?
No specific artists I have favorites, I do not follow any particular, but I think great art awesome Craig Mullins (www.goodbrush.com/). His art combines classic painterly style, with visible brush strokes with the best of digital art. He is a genius. Then, as I said, many current conceptual artists seems impressive.
SmirkyTrick: What is your favorite video game?
I find it difficult to choose just one, I would say that I really enjoyed games of all kinds and at different times ... Antique I would say "Another World" I made a great impression. Modern games but in the field I loved indy "Braid". And games like, "big production" I have great memories of "Batman Arkham Asylum", although I'm sure I have left many other forgotten games.
SmirkyTrick: What is your favorite movie?
Currently I think "Drive", but also, I have many movies "favorites", but it is a movie that made me feel very special things.
SmirkyTrick: What would you say to those who want to get into the same kind of art do you do?
No doubt they enjoy it, to endeavor if they believe that is what they really are and do not ever stop drawing. If you want to work professionally, competition is wild, so they will have to achieve still see art as something fun and vital not to forget that they have to train your skills to be gainfully employed. And of course, do not forget to live, feel, experience in their life path.
