SmirkyTrick’s Review:
Invazia
Here’s a fun little game that I found, the game is called Invazia, in this game you play as a farmer who has to protect his floating island from an alien invasion. I know that sounds like a bizarre concept but I gotta say, it’s a very unique idea that was well put together.
Controls
The controls in this game, I gotta say, work. It’s works out very smoothly. You move with WASD keys (the game also claims that you can move with the arrow keys, but surprising they do not work) and you can aim with the mouse and you jump with the spacebar. The only complaint that I have with this the controls is that you can’t move right away, you have to click on the screen first and then you can move. But the problem is as soon as you click on the screen your guy attacks and the very first thing he hits is his sheep. I’m not sure if you’re suppose to protect them or not, but with all else said, that is a pretty minor complaint.
Gameplay
The graphics in this game are in the traditional 8 or 16 bit style. I like how the sheep are clearly sheep. That would be hard to pull off with this kind of style. Everything else is also clearly designed well. Although, there is one complaint that I do have, whenever you die the game freezes for a moment. I’m not sure if there is a frame rate issue or if there’s a problem with my laptop or what. But overall, it’s nice.
Difficulty
The difficulty is ever so present in this game. In one moment you’re fighting a small group of aliens that die in 1 hit. The next thing you know, you’re battling against a large colony of aliens that can take up to 3 or 5 hits. Luckily there are power-ups that are at your disposal including a pistol or a boomerang or even mines, and every now and then you’ll get cash so you can buy/build stuff like a turret or a health regenerator to aid you in combat. There are bosses in the game, but I keep on dying before I ever reach them. Maybe it’s because I’m playing it on a laptop, I dunno. There’s one other complaint that I have, whenever you’re hit, you don’t get any recovery time. Yeah, you don’t get those few seconds of invincibility. The enemies can do a good chunk of damage in 1 or 2 hits. You have to either jump or run away to avoid that stuff.
Overall, Invazia is a good game. The concept is original, the controls are ok, and if you love a good challenge and high difficulty then this game is for you. If you have the proper hardware, If would recommend this game, if not, at least try it once.
