StevenRayBrown
If you were to go to Youtube and type "speed art" chances are you will come across StevenRayBrown. With his own style and take on popular media, he has accumulated over 28,000 subscribers, he's also the guy who did the art in the youtube series titled 'Animemes'. I chose to promote StevenRayBrown today because he can definitely see things in his own way. I just love his cartoony art style and I just adore his art that mixes the popular media of the past with the popular media of today. It was a bit tricky but I managed to ask StevenRayBrown for an interview and here's what he has to say:
SmirkyTrick: When did you start working on your specific medium?
Well, I work in primarily Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Flash. I started working with Photoshop and Flash in high school. At that time I would draw and ink my drawings on paper scan them in and color them in Photoshop. Now I do everything within the program.
SmirkyTrick: What sparked your interest in this?
I was just a really big fan of cartoons. Be it movies, tv, or internet toons. My favorite is Adventures of the Gummi Bears.
SmirkyTrick: Is there anyone or anything that inspired your personal style?
Stephen Silver and Toby Shelton are two that I admire. I would be lying if people like Egoraptor, HotdiggityDemon, or Ukinjoe don't influence me too.
SmirkyTrick: Which piece would you say you are the most proud of?
Its an older one... Its called Yesterday's Family of Tomorrow. In the past when talking about the future we talk about how everything is going to be technologically advanced, chrome, flying cars... you know the whole shebang... the Jetsons. But now when we talk about the future its all about decay and zombies. So i drew the Jetson's the symbol of the past's future into the world of today's tomorrow. Add some of their friends as zombies. I put the jetsons into outfits based off of zombie series such as Zombieland, Shaun of the Dead, and The Walking Dead. I think its a cool concept, and probably the deepest thing I've done. I need to redo it. It hasn't aged well... but its got so much meaning.

SmirkyTrick: What's your favorite video game?
Banjo Kazooie.
SmirkyTrick: What's your favorite movie?
The Iron Giant, hands down.
SmirkyTrick: Who's your favorite artist and why?
If it was the past me it would've been Eiichiro Oda of One Piece. But now-a-days it would be either Stephen Silver or Toby Shelton. They're awesome.
SmirkyTrick: What would you say to those who want to get into the same genre of art that you do?
Just start. Don't worry about personal style... that comes later. You just need to get as much mileage as possible. Fail a couple of times, that's fine. Remember that not everything you do is going to be a home run, and just keep at it. Drawing is a skill, the only different between talented people is the amount of time they put into their craft.
